Coach Matthews will be entering his sixth year at South Stokes. Coach Matthews graduated from South Stokes in 1982 . He played in different leagues as well as travel ball leagues across the area. His coaching background includes being the JV Girls Head Coach for three years and Varsity Girls assistant for two years. Before coming to South, coach Matthews coached AAU High School Boys and Girls for many years along with showcase boys. Coach Matthews also coached the JV baseball team for three years at South Stokes. Coach Matthews is married to Norma Matthews and they have three children , Bethany, Alex, and Alley .
Scott Joyce is a South Stokes alumni. During his time at South, he played varsity basketball for all 3 years. His love for the game led him to coaching for the past 15 years starting at London Elementary Recreation League where he started an all girls team competing against boys. He then, started his own AAU team for 12 years. In 2011, he started coaching at South Stokes as the JV assistant coach for three years. He was the JV head coach for two years. This season, he will be the assistant varsity girls coach. Scott loves to coach girls because they play with heart and passion. He believes in teaching the basics and wants the girls to learn but most importantly, enjoy the game. His motto is “we all make mistakes it's how you correct them that makes you who you are”.
